This book is helping me change my life!I never knew how little I actually knew about how my fridge works, or how to make best use of every shelf and compartment。 For years I complained about how quickly fresh produce and other products “went bad,” when actually I just needed to change the way I prepared my food and loaded my fridge in the first place。 And to be able to do this, I needed to learn about how my particular fridge works so that I could help it do it’s job in the best way it was built This book is helping me change my life!I never knew how little I actually knew about how my fridge works, or how to make best use of every shelf and compartment。 For years I complained about how quickly fresh produce and other products “went bad,” when actually I just needed to change the way I prepared my food and loaded my fridge in the first place。 And to be able to do this, I needed to learn about how my particular fridge works so that I could help it do it’s job in the best way it was built for。While the sections on the history of food storage and refrigeration, how refrigeration actually works, and how to determine best use practices for your particular fridge may seem “boring “ or “ridiculous in a cookbook,” you need to understand that this book is not really a cookbook as we’re used to seeing。 This is the book you would refer to when you’re trying to figure out how and where you should store your squashes, greens, onions, etc。, in the best way possible, for as long as possible, so you can minimize — and hopefully end — food waste。 Plus, you do get some really yummy recipes that store very well and help you enjoy all that well-stored food!I discovered this author on Instagram, and ended up preordering her book。 Since receiving it, I’ve been working my way through reading EVERY section, and making a lot of changes in my shopping, food preparation, food storage, and eating habits。 I have not had to buy any special containers or products in order to make these changes。 I’m simply making better use of items I already had, and I’m not working any harder to make things last longer。As I said, the book does have a recipe section。 These are recipes and ideas that help with preparing some ready-to-grab meals, make-your-own condiments, and generally encourage you to squeeze more plant-based meals into your daily menus。 Every recipe I’ve tried so far has been great, and there are lots more recipes and ideas on her blog。I’m so happy to have this book。 It’s the one I didn’t know I needed until I got it。 It’s a game changer! 。。。more

The organization shown in this book is so satisfying that I felt a little dirty looking at it。 In all seriousness, there are a lot of useful tips and I know I’ll be using them (or at least trying to!) in the future。 Now it’s time to go cool off with the freezer door open。 This unbiased review is based on a complimentary copy provided by the publisher。

Does your fridge need a makeover? According to Kristen Hong, anyone can organize their fridge and learn to keep foods longer; the instructions are included in Fridge Love: Organize Your Refrigerator for a Healthier, Happier Life―with 100 Recipes 。 The book has excellent instruction for making your fridge perfect。 Unfortunately, most people will find that while everything works as the author suggests, it isn’t really something that can be accomplished in real life。 Rather, a perfect fridge is for Does your fridge need a makeover? Once reality sets in, most will use many of the suggestions, but will realize that perfection isn’t possible for those of us who actually use our fridge to store food that doesn’t fit into the perfect containers。 The book has excellent information that almost everyone will appreciate, and it’s a book that will be very helpful for those who include it in their cookbook collection。 This isn’t a book for everyone。Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book。 。。。more

I have to be honest, I don’t normally read books about refrigerators, but as a long-time fan of Hong’s Instagram pages where she wows with her food is organized in rainbow order in clear jars, I had to check it out。 Hong first got into food organization when she was introduced to Dr。 Joel Fuhrman’s nutritarian diet, which involves a lot of fruits, veggies, seeds and nuts。 As someone who has dabbled in this diet, I know firsthand the hardest part of sticking with it was staying organized and prep I have to be honest, I don’t normally read books about refrigerators, but as a long-time fan of Hong’s Instagram pages where she wows with her food is organized in rainbow order in clear jars, I had to check it out。 Hong first got into food organization when she was introduced to Dr。 Joel Fuhrman’s nutritarian diet, which involves a lot of fruits, veggies, seeds and nuts。 As someone who has dabbled in this diet, I know firsthand the hardest part of sticking with it was staying organized and prepared。 Hong’s approach to fridge organization makes getting healthy food onto your plate easy and eye-pleasing。 She offers organizational tips at various levels of fridge organization motivation。 While I couldn’t wait to finish reading the sections on the history of the refrigerator or the mechanics of how a refrigerator works, the rest of the book has a lot to offer in terms of ways in which to organize a fridge, including what to do if you have people on different diets in the same household, which is something I struggle with。 While I know my fridge will never look like Hong’s, I now have the tools to make my fridge more inviting and practical。 The fridge envy never goes away, but this time, at least my veggies will be pre-chopped。 Hear my review on my book recommendation podcast, Books Are My People, episode #71。 。。。more

Not only is this a beautiful book aesthetically, but it speaks practically for organizational sense to pursue a healthier way of eating。 I appreciated the history on preserving and cooling foods。 Prepping and planning meals is a great way to stay on budget and avoid waste。 Love, LOVE the tons of simple plant based recipes - already incorporating lots of these into my meal plans。

Fridge Love by Kirsten HongThis book took me on a journey。 It reminded me of days when we did not have electricity and would freeze ice blocks to put in the fridge, of going through containers trying to find the “safe” ones, of trying to cook for a vegetarian daughter and a carnivore son, of trying to find ways to store all the produce from our garden and still find it in the fridge, and it reminded me of my personal journey to a healthier lifestyle although I did not follow the one this author Fridge Love by Kirsten HongThis book took me on a journey。 It reminded me of days when we did not have electricity and would freeze ice blocks to put in the fridge, of going through containers trying to find the “safe” ones, of trying to cook for a vegetarian daughter and a carnivore son, of trying to find ways to store all the produce from our garden and still find it in the fridge, and it reminded me of my personal journey to a healthier lifestyle although I did not follow the one this author chose for herself。 The book does a deep dive into the history of refrigerators, discusses the mechanics that they are based on, which part of the refrigerator is coldest, the types of refrigerators and how they vary, where to put different types of foods, storage container pros and cons, cleaning of the refrigerator – how often and how to do it, etc。There is a section on how to deal with produce from washing to preparing to storing of it that would be handy till one knew all the ins and outs of all the produce they were likely to put into their refridgeratorThe recipes were simple but tasty sounding and as a predominately plant based cook I always am on the lookout for recipes to try…there were a few in this book that I might be tempted by…if I am able to find the ingredients here in Lebanon。 The photographs were gorgeous and made me wish I had access to all of the containers in perfect sized with matching covers…don’t see that happening any time soon but it is nice to dream。 I admire the effort put into this book, the information shared, and the sincerity behind the author’s writing。 I know how difficult it can be to create meals daily for four people and not have them all on the same dietary program。 I would actually like to have a hard copy of this book in my kitchen to look through and to cook from because I much prefer hardcopy cookbooks to the ebook version。 I believe there is information that is valuable in the book but it is definitely geared more for the whole food plant-based whole food cook and perhaps for those earlier in their cooking history。 This is not just a food organization book or a cookbook but a bit of both with personal anecdotes and a lot about how refrigerators work。Thank you to NetGalley and Mariner Books for the ARC – This is my honest review。4 Stars 。。。more

ARC Review:This book was very satisfying to read。 Love the cover, draws in fellow organization fiends like myself。 I love the idea of organizing your fridge to make everything easier to see, easier to store, and to look like less of a mess。 When things are clean and organized it helps the brain process what is in front of it--making meal prep and dinner rustle ups a lot easier。

Interesting 。。 lots of good info, great detail。 Not sure how successful I would be。 But - I'll try it。 Interesting 。。 lots of good info, great detail。 Not sure how successful I would be。 But - I'll try it。 。。。more

Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for this free eARC。I really loved the ideas for fridge organization, but an added plus are the recipes that can really help with both your fridge organization and home budget。I can't wait to try it out and I honestly recommend this book。 Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for this free eARC。I really loved the ideas for fridge organization, but an added plus are the recipes that can really help with both your fridge organization and home budget。I can't wait to try it out and I honestly recommend this book。 。。。more
